Truck Stopped In Middle Of New Canaan Roadway Leads To DUI Arrest, Police Say

A man asleep behind the wheel of a truck in the middle of a busy road was driving with a blood alcohol content nearly triple the legal limit in New Canaan, police said.

Officers from the New Canaan Police Department received a report at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning, of a truck that was stopped in the middle of New Norwalk Road near the intersection of Locust Avenue.

Upon arrival at the reported location, officers found New Canaan resident Zachary Michael Jackson, 37, who was asleep in the driver’s seat of the truck. After he was woken up, police said that Jackson had alcohol on his breath, and he proceeded to fail several Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

Jackson was arrested and transported to New Canaan Police Headquarters, where it was determined he had a blood alcohol content of .21 percent. Jackson was charged for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and he was released on $250 bond. Jackson is due back in court on Oct. 9 to answer the DWI charge.
